Working with hotels, here in Fort Worth and across the country, is a big part of our commercial window film business. As any hotel owner, manager or employee knows–comfort is everything; second only to access to the views. With so many windows on hotels, many of them large and towering, hotel establishments often find themselves soaked in glare with the outside scenery obscured. This makes glare reducing window film a must for any hotel wishing to succeed by giving its guests the very best comfort and ambiance. Recently we had the privilege of working on a challenging but extremely rewarding Colorado hotel to reduce intense glare for their establishment.
The Challenge: Reducing Glare On Hotel Windows–Maintaining Views
This lovely Marriott hotel has some of the most stunning windows we’ve ever worked on–with more than a 180–degree views of the stunning surrounding landscape. The world beneath the windows is equally as exciting. Under the soaring signature peaked windows conventions are hosted, wedding performed, and the state’s largest TV is housed. However, the hotel noticed at some of the most lovely times of day, the areas around the striking windows were empty. They realized that guests were avoiding the prime space because of the heat and glare radiating through. Since this area was so beautiful and meant to make the guest experience magnificent–the hotel knew something needed to be done to curb the glare
The Solar Film Solution To Hotel Window Glare
When we first visited the Marriott hotel, our initial job was installing frosted decorative window film on their tasting rooms. An engineer walked us by the gorgeous towering windows and mentioned the current plan to reduce glare was putting in roller shades. This solution was not only expensive (possibly necessitating a designated employee to open and close the shades) but blocked the gorgeous mountain and city views. We asked the Marriott to consider solar film as a solution and installed samples of some of our most effective glare reducing films. The difference was amazing and they decided that tinting the entire windows was the very best solution. After much trial and error, the film for the job ended up being Llumar DRN-35. This film blocks glare, solar heat gain and still allows for amazing views through the iconic windows. The film also protects the fine upholstery, carpets, and floors from fading. These benefits not only make for the very best guest experience the hotel can offer its valued guest but savings on energy use and replacement furnishings.
